A.J. Ellis of the Los Angeles Dodgers had all the reason to be happy. When the Dodgers won, Ellis excitedly went to congratulate fellow teammate Josh Beckett. Unfortunately, Ellis wound up rolling on his ankle as he ran towards his teammate, resulting in an ankle sprain.
“I wanted to be a part of it. It’s a great day, a great experience to be a part of. I quickly lost my thrill for what happened,” Ellis said. “Rolled it pretty good. I’m beyond frustrated, still kind of shocked.” A catcher on the team will be taking Ellis’ place until he fully recovers.
How Does an Ankle Sprain Happen?
This type of injury takes place when the ligaments are torn or stretched beyond their limits. There are multiple ways that the ankle can become injured; however, even the simple act of walking may cause a sprain. If footing is lost or you are walking on uneven terrain, ankle damage may occur.
